Relaxation and summertime

Updated: Aug 30, 2023

How do you find your deepest connection with the universe? with nature? with God? with the most needy? with the struggling? with pain, suffering and happiness?

Do you sit in the sun and soak up its rays? Do you sit under a shade tree and recognize its beauty? Do you talk to the trees and the birds and the bees or bugs in the air. Are you able to recognize each creature's needed place in creation?

Do you exercise in the heat or in air conditioning? Do you swim in the blessed waters surrounding our areas in lakes and rivers? Do you canoe or kayak or lay in the sand?

Here are ways I suggest to relax and recognize the best of self, family, neighborhood, city, state, nation and world.

  1. Wake up in the morning and be grateful for who you are, and for another day of life.

  2. Say a prayer or meditate on one virtue that you'd like to pay attention to this day.

  3. Think of someone less fortunate than you and send kind wishes toward that person or group of people.

  4. Do a kind act for a person who is sent to your life this day.

  5. Invite beauty into your space.

  6. Trust others are there for you if you need.

  7. Look at the trees, and flowers and plants that sway in the breeze.

  8. Breathe a big deep breath of fragrant air, to fill lungs with fresh oxygen (hopefully the body can rid itself of the toxins mixed in)

  9. Eat whatever food with a conscious attitude of gratitude.

  10. Move with intention and gratitude for the ability to do so. Take a nap if needed.

  11. Imagine every cell in the world totally connected with all the others...and needing each other...happy when acknowledged and sad when disregarded.

  12. Participate in alternative healing activities from around the world. If I listed them, I could miss an important one for you. Be open to where your thoughts, mind, learning and consciousness takes you. Heal your personal traumas and disappointments of life.

May you feel blessed, at peace, courageous, confident, loved, and loving. May your being bless the world with your gifts, talents, abilities, and rootedness in the beauty of creation. May your empowered self make a positive difference in our wounded world. Enjoy the summer.
